I can now say that I am humbled
By life’s many trials and tears,
And by the sins I’ve committed
Over the years
Gone are the chances that I had
To do right: dark and grim reminders
That once haunted me day and night.
I existed in darkness
With my companion, ‘Despair’
And often I would look up to whisper,
“God, are you there?”
Then one day, a stranger remarked that
“Life was not meant to be lived in the dark,”
And, “Someone loved you so very much that He gave
His own precious life, so that yours could be saved.”
So once I was lost, and now
I am found: rescued from the lion
That circled all around
My life now has purpose, my spirit
It is renewed, and for all you have done
Lord Jesus, I thank you.
