Lullaby

Falling and twisting
Fingering the chords flawlessly
lost amongst the melody
Feeling every hit and bruise
thats left upon my rosey flesh
flowing like an inkpen...broken
leaking onto everything
Nothing left untouched.
Rhythm and base take over me
fill my mind with ease and euphoria
higher than any weed.
stronger than any medicine.
The muse of the music flows
into my soul sightlessly
You'll never know my true emotions
until you turn the music on.

Author notes

I don't know if this is something you'll like but it is definately one of my favorites.

Only music can move the soul so effortlessly.

Beautiful write! The title suits it perfectly. At first, before reading this, I thought it would be an actual lullaby, but after reading it, the music is your own lullaby. That is so sweet. I loved these lines "Rhythm and base take over me
fill my mind with ease and euphoria
    higher than any weed.
    stronger than any medicine.
The muse of the music flows
into my soul sightlessly" You must play guitar right? I liked how in the first stanza you described that beauty and your passion for music is found within the pain and bruises playing an instrument leaves on your fingers, is all worth it. Perfectly ended with "You'll never know my true emotions
until you turn the music on." Best of luck and thank you for entering my contest

Music is my passion and I understand very well how music can show through to your emotions, honestly. Good write, though. Keep writing, mmk?

Don't know why but the first think I noticed in the poem is the alliterated use of the letter F. Falling, Fingering, Flawlessly, Feeling, flesh...etc. Is that purposeful? It is very rhythmic...makes me sleepy just reading it again

The beat in rhythm with a heart and the melody plays to the soul. Beautifully described and I often write with music playing, it is a lovely muse.

firstly you made me want to read this poem with you witty preview statement.... that was very intriguing, rthen as reading your poem, I could feel such sadness, such hurt,,, then hope was found with the music, within a song.... I love these lines....
"Rhythm and base take over me
fill my mind with ease and euphoria
    higher than any weed.
    stronger than any medicine.
The muse of the music flows
    into my soul sightlessly"
I can relate to this as music is my medicine...
    very well expressed, well done!!
