Her body is still warm,
but her heart has grown cold.
She's shut down and torn apart,
by the lies her former lover has told.
She once was vibrant
full of love and life to give.
Now he's hurt her so much,
she's not sure she wants live.
Men will come along
and try to sweep her off her feet.
But she's so hung up on him,
she can't think of one she wants to meet.
She's turned off her heart
and built tall walls all around.
She's a diamond in the rough
but she doesn't want to be found.
There's so much left in her.
There's still life in her dying heart,
but she's not looking for it.
She's got being alone down to an art.
Her "Knight in Shining Armor"
will ride along some day.
But, he'll have to be strong,
because she'll try to push him away.
She doesn't trust anyone.
She fears that they're all like him.
To her life is no longer bright
and her broken heart has grown dim.
He's taken from her
more than he'll ever know.
To her it seems impossible
to let a new love begin to grow.
But, around the corner rides her Knight.
He's valliant and he's strong.
He's going to teach her to love again.
He'll remind her the verses of loves song.
He takes her in his tender arms,
he looks her straight in her eyes.
He tells her of his love for her
and somehow she knows he's not telling lies.
She lets her guard down
as he breaks down each wall.
She's not afraid to love again
and she gives HER Knight her all!!

one of a kind
you made my day....... I really was feeling down from this morning... but that was until i read this wonderful piece of poetry. The simple language, is what has added so much to this poem. Makes love look so easy.. thoug thats the toughest thing around. I really dont have enough words to praise your work... this is one of my favourites... thanks a lot for this lovely poem.

this is a very path-driven poem. it begins sort of sadly and then progresses as it goes on...explaining about love. very tender and thoughtful. the end makes it into a sort of...happy-ending type thing. this has an old-fashioned sort of epic feel to it.
