"Going to church doesn't make you a Christian
anymore than standing in a garage makes you car"
It was line after line
straight backed pews and hardcover hymnals
to assure we'd listen our way to grace
and then, after passing on the body
we walk away to find our face
When did heaven ever sell itself by the hour
and salvation by attended days?
Who decided that offerings would lead to eternity
and gatherings to holy ways
If hell could hold the greatest secret from our eyes
this is what it would be;
grace is never bought on Sunday mornings
and sermons alone never set a man free
Author notes
There are no guarantees of heaven to be found in the seats of any church

I really liked this. This is the option that I wasnt sure I'd get any entries on and yours is the second. You wrote what I feel
I love your ending lines
"That grace is never bought on Sunday mornings
and sermons alone never set a man free"
That is so true. I'd like to know your name so that I can use that as a quote (though I'd like to give credit where credit is due) If you dont mind.
Great Job POET.
