Implacable immobility,
silence thrown
on a once sunny planet,
a dim glow of anxiety caresses
the heavy shroud of
melted black stone
now vitrified.
Huddle up bodies petrified
in a continuous scream.
Vision of death immortalised
for generations to come.
Long term opacity from
ashes suspended,
on city splendours.
Miles away, minds
remain blurred for days,
as people pray,
to their Gods
for the miracle of wind.

Author notes
Pompeii is a ruined Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the commune of Pompei. It was destroyed, and completely buried, during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius on 24 August 79 AD.
The volcano buried Pompeii under many metres of ash, and it was lost for 1,600 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. Today, it is a main tourist attraction of Italy.

You have done an impressive job here with your unique word choices. It's nice to read something that causes the mind to engage in deeper thought now and then. Nicely done.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to enter my contest. Good luck!
