movement

Leaves dance and swirl
harkening the arrival
of earths heavy sigh
with softly whispered greetings.

Grass and trees bow to its majesty.
as it moves to and fro unfettered, unchained
while all in its path just stand and stare
and give glory to its countenance.

refreshing on a warm day,
scorned during a storm.
It cares naught for others
only its own course.

It is ancient and eternal
changing when it wants,
destroying if it so pleases,
causing us to lift our faces or bend our heads.

It can be a friend or a foe.

It can change a ships course with a single breath.

It cannot be tamed or transformed

though man wishes and continues to try.

I read this a couple of times (not because it was hard to understand) but for wanting to really absorb it. Indeed the wind can be ever so gentle as well as so destructive. I often wonder that when destructive it might be it reclaiming for Nature that which belonged to her anyway and that we as mankind appropriated. I often think of us "raping" the planet in a most violent way. Anyway...I enjoyed this and best wishes in the contest,

I like the deeper meaning infused behind the words here and the surface imagery is just beautiful. I could feel the winds swirl about me as I read this. It's nice to see you put a lot of thought into this. Thank you for taking the time and effort to enter my contest. Good luck!
