Youthful life
Meant for so much
Now sits on the edge of a hut
Staring out on to a vast ocean
Lost in thoughts of what could have
And should have been
Her eyes have seen a lot
Seen so much
That the heart now cannot believe or want to relive
Now can one share
The secrets that lie within the heart
No one will ever know
She will not speak
It’s a burden she feels
That no one would want to bear
Hands of brutality
Raised against her everyday
Screams have died now
Giving way to unwanted acceptance
Fires of fury
Burning cole
Acids of cruelty
Each of these
She knows too well
She cannot step out
Stepping out to the world would be a risk
A risk of shame and hurt
People wont accept her
No one would want to accept her
Her and her scars
A face she hides
Hides with a wail always
Never does she show
Scars that would shock the world
Scars that would put fear in the eyes of society
She will never be free
Her head always bowed
Never would she face the world in truth
She lives a lie to those around
They know not the misery
She lives a lie
This is her life
This is her mask
The pain that she must bear
The reality she feels she must hide

that's so sad, but how true. the world can be so unwilling to accept scarred individual. we want everything to be rosy. great job, and good luck.

thanks for entering my contest, your poem's great, but unfortunately it doesn't follow the rules. it needs to have the title 'Behind the/my mask'. you can either change the title, or enter a new poem. thanks
