My House of Pleasure
My dear King Hugh,
I really want to say,
A sincere thank you,
On my LA Sunday.
What to write
I do not know
About a room?
Can it have a bow?
I want it pretty,
With pink and flowers,
A crisp white bathroom,
With baths and showers.
A four poster king bed,
With ornate bedhead adorned,
Angels and cupids arrows,
At the middle joined.
A doona filled with feathers,
Covered in rose petals red,
Soft and comfy to lay upon,
That would be my bed.
A library full of books galore,
That would be my delight,
I couldn't ask for any more,
But I'll try with all my might.
A lounging chair to read in,
A tiffany lamp antique of course,
On a table of mahogany,
That would be so choice.
Drapes would be soft velvet,
Deep lilac to the floor,
Bright sunshine in the morning,
Coming through each french door.
High ceilings of pristine gold,
Ornate with Italian carvings,
Of David reaching out to God,
Oh how amazing!
And to make it just right,
I would need an Adonis to complete,
He would come to me each night,
And on my bed we'd meet.
We'd read poetry to each other,
Until we were quite spent,
He would be my friend and lover,
And really heaven sent.

Love the gold ceilings! The library full of books is a necessity! I love your Bower and make sure "Adonis" is there when I visit. I'd love to meet him.
The best to you in the challenge.
-
I have the books but need the library...maybe I can steal yours.

What is the female equivilent of an adonis? Send me one of them...no wait...send me a monkey...they are funnier and would undoubtedly be less maintenance.
Ceilings of gold...ah, now that is living!

It seems men are in very high demand in the castle.
I've seen requests for masseurs, your Adonis, my prince, and plenty of others. But then, I don't suspect we can expect King Hugh to spread himself TOO thin.
A lovely poem you have penned. I hope you will stop by my bower sometime so we can get to know each other.
Good luck and best wishes,
~J.

Men Are Everything
Without my Adonis,
Their masseurs and Prince,
Our King would be tired,
And we would be in a cinch.
We are doing King Hugh a favor,
Which is what we believe,
So we chose these beautiful men,
So no one can grieve.
Long live King Hugh,
He has his wenches to visit,
They open their bower doors,
And are his in a minute.
He isn't short of love galore,
And if he has his lot,
He will always find more!
I will be glad to visit,
Your bower my friend,
And we can see each other's,
I'm on the east end.
You sound like fun,
We'll soundproof each room,
And laugh till the dawn,
And sleep way past noon.
Love and Hugs,
Petratani

Dear Petra, it's so nice to see an entry from you and a very lovely one at that. I love your ornate bed with the angels.
I hope you will pop in and see Heath and I and share some of your Maori legends with us. Hugh has written some great legends and I am very fascinated in learning more.
Hine.

A pleasure
Kiaora Hinemoa dear,
For your comment today,
I am so honored to hear from you,
In every special way.
The Maori Legends are so good,
More would be a pleasure,
And they will come to us in verse,
At the King's own leisure.
Love and Hugs,
Petratani

Beautifully decorated
Dear Petra,
I have been reading of such elegant Bower's and I must admit yours is exceptional.
I love the ornate bedhead with angel's and cupids arrow, and the Italian carvings sounds beaut too!
May I come and visit you in your rooms? And please feel free to visit me in mine.
Jen.

Welcome!
Please come to my humble abode,
And share sweet tea and scones,
And chat with me about all things,
No interruptions of phones!
Surrounded by such wondrous beauty,
Angels and cupids for love,
To eminate the feeling of,
My Adonis from God above.
Adonis can serve us in loin cloth,
His muscles bulging and oiled,
Carrying on a tray of silver,
Lovely candy, recently boiled.
We'll lay on my feather down doona,
Our heads sinking into the pillows,
And look through both french doors,
At the weeping willows.
Ducks on the pond out yonder,
Over the green grass of home,
Knowing that in this magnificent castle,
We are not alone.

Dear Shewolfnative
Thank you for your lovely comment,
It is indeed so sweet,
Delicious for my Adonis and angels,
Cupid at my head pointing to my feet!
My library full of books galore,
My michaelangelo ceiling,
My four poster kingsize bed and more,
A warm luxurious feeling.
Thank you again dear Shewolfnative,
I look forward to your bower to read,
I will enjoy it I am certain of that,
It will be just what I need.
Hugs and love,
Petratani

Thank you
I am certain anything is better than a sludgy old toilet and a pile of straw on the floor but I really enjoyed your poem so very much. Thank you for the good wishes. Love Petratani xo

My Library
My library is so special,
It is under a magical spell,
You touch a book and whatever you wish,
Will be the one you want as well.
Each book is beautiful to hold,
And ornate and light as a feather,
Beautiful to the very touch,
And made of the finest leather.
The pages turn for you,
As you complete each one,
And as you finish reading,
It remembers where you left off.
No dusting needed in my library,
I do it myself each day,
My books are kept immaculate,
That is just my way.
So please come to my bower,
And don't hestiate to ask me please,
To borrow a book from the library,
I would be happy to lease.
I even offer sweet tea and scones,
A chat and a view of the grounds,
The pond over younder of the ducks,
As they make their daily rounds.
A jump on my king size poster bed,
With its beautiful doona quilt,
To stare at the ceiling of michealangelo's,
And even a bowl of soup.
But my library will entrance you,
It will take you away from me,
I will not have you for very long,
I will be a faraway memory.
Love and Hugs,
Petratani

You are evidently a lady with a clear mind, who knows exactly what she wants, and not too demanding - it is nice to meet you.

Now this is a new definition of furnishing - a special Adonis supplied by HRH Hugh! It sounds so wonderful, would we ever see you in the grand salon?
Good luck in the contest!
-
-
Dear Margaret
I am so happy with my place,
I know where my bower is,
I live in the east tower,
It certainly is pure bliss.
The Grand Salon sounds very nice,
But going to it will be hard,
A pretty dress I would need,
And it isn't on my card.
Clothes I did not ask for,
Butt naked is the best I could do,
I would not want to be a bore,
But, it seems, I would have to.
My Adonis would have his loin cloth,
Perhaps we could cut it in three,
I could wear a bottom and top,
And make a little bikini.
So yes, I will see you at the Salon,
Scantily dressed I'm afraid,
But I'll be there with bells,
Heading the grand parade.
Hugs and kisses,
Petratani

Dear Maureen
Thank you for reading my poem,
I appreciate your comment,
My Adonis is someone special,
He lives in the moment.
Your picture is so beautiful,
Are they the grounds of the castle?
I can imagine viewing them,
As part and parcel.
Love and hugs,
Petratani

To whom it may concern,
Thankyou for your entry in this Huguenauties contest.
As I do not own a computer but use Hugh’s from time to time, I have asked Hugh to comment on my behalf on each entry to save my travelling across town each time.
Thankyou for understanding and excusing me.
Good luck in the contest.
Love, Heathcote.

Thank you
Thank you Heathcote sincerely,
For your lovely comment received,
I'm sorry you don't own a computer,
It is something everyone needs.
I wish I had the funds to supply,
To you something of worth,
I feel that everyone should have one,
On the day of their initial birth.
Perhaps you could read my poem,
How I feel about computers,
I'm a nerd, it may seem absurd,
I just need wireless routers.
Love and hugs,
Petratani -
Thank you

Dear Petratani,
Yes, you can have a bow window - it is already planned
and a bathroom with TWO baths and showers (do you need more than that?)
for, even when your feet are soiled from working on the land,
a double bath and shower should do, (but first, take off your hat!)
With sculptors busy carving out the head of your bedstead
or the bits of Michaelangelo on ceiling,
and the heaps of books upon your shelves, (not one of which you've read),
your bower should have that real 'artistic feeling'.
But nothing is too good for you where this King is concerned,
for he wants you to enjoy your times of leisure
and he hopes, when all is finished, you'll consider he has earned
the right to share, with you, some of the pleasure.
Your poem, direct and simple, with some very subtle rhyme
leaves the King so very proud of you (as he is most of the time!)
Thankyou Pet, for entering this contest.
Applause and best of luck.
Kia ora e arohanui, XXX Kingi Hue,
