Somewhere safe and warm to rest
Never being a great big pest,
Where it is easy and very peaceful
Never to see all these evils,
So much I wish I could be
Wrapped up in your lovely warm glow.
Where they cannot hurt me and dare not
The very sight would make them flee,
They back off and leave me alone
To live in peace where I have flown,
To be wanted, to be needed
Never again the one who pleaded.
To feel free and not be afraid
Of them forever holding the spade,
To actually laugh and be happy
Instead of always being unhappy,
Oh what a joy it would be
Not always feeling so terribly lonely

Very nice write. I can feel the emotion your putting forth in this write. I'm not sure on the rhyme scheme, some couplets do rhyme and some don't, so you may wish to make all of it rhyme or write free verse. But all in all it has good descriptions and imagery. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contests.
