lying lonely at a lake
pray to god my soul he take
Strip from me a blackened core
Drag me to the other shore
Darker still, I feel the water
creeping towards my stilt-like legs
Close my eyes, wait for redemption
hoping god finds no exemption
among the frogs and hollow reeds
I lie still, the current leads
Splish and splash upon my thighs
I feel the path, but have no boat
now I start to think
that my salvation lies not
in suffocation

This is kinda quirky funny in a way. You used rhyme quite effectively and flowed from one form to another with what seemed like great ease. Nicely done.
