Prehistoric love

bones in locked embrace
unchanging in shifting sand
Love beyond decay

Author notes

It wasn't sand of course - this was dug up by archeologists out of the ground, but I wanted to sound poetic and also capture the shiftiness of the ground and time compared to the lasting nature of these bones.
If anyone can come up with a better line, let me know.

Oh how very nice to read this haiku! I have seen this picture too in the newspapers and it just touched my heart so much to see how 2 people were so very close to one another. That is LOVE! It was a scene one cannot forget so soon. So glad someone has penned a 'ku about it. A lovely haiku. The first line draws the reader in and holds his attention. Haiku do not have titles, so my only suggestion is to remove 'Prehistoric love' and replace it with L1 which is what is usually done by all haijin. Lovely alliteration in L2. A memorable aha moment in L3 closes the poem beautifully! Congratulations on the Silver trophy!

    All the best,

Yes, poet, this is poetic. It is also surreal. I love the graphic and know that oft times we forget that the Master has designed it all to suit his whims. The "embrace" of these two, evidently lovers is awesome and you have capture that essence with a flair! Outstanding work!
