When God Smiled

Sixteen swans sailing on a sparkling stream,
feathers soft and creamy as a childhood dream.
I watched, enchanted by their majesty and grace,
this avian armada pass me by--their place
in Nature so assured that God, beguiled,
from far and distant Heaven, duly smiled.
