Amongst the deadly nightshade’s beauty
Just beyond reach of the moon’s glow,
The sleek and stealthy feline huntress
Darted to and fro.
Her keenly honed hunting skills
Once again would be put to the test,
The young feline was at the top of her game:
Without a doubt, she was the best.
Lying in the shadowed rural forest
Overlooking a moonlit field,
The feline knew if she waited patiently,
Her coveted prey would be revealed.
Her independently turning hypersensitive ears
Could hear skittering and chattering all around,
And so crouching low, with muscles tense,
She was poised to make the bound.
With a powerful spring, she leapt into the air!
As her primal instincts took over,
And with a mighty swift pounce she had her prize:
Thus satisfying the urge that drove her.

Being a real cat lover, I was able to really invisage every word spoken here and see that wonderful cat doing what all cats are primed to do...hunt, whether they get their prey or not. This was written with sheer excellence and flowed wonderfully. Great rhyme and rhythm also. I noticed you got a couple of trophies for this piece and for that, I congratulate you. My cat use to catch things but he would never kill them. Just bring them to me and I would release them again...mainly little lizards. Thanks for the read.

I love this. Anything on most animals I really enjoy but cats of all sizes are the top of my list. Such wonderful creatures from the largest to the smallest felines. You capture that instinct for the hunt so well.

love it
I really like this. The first thing I noticed was the word choice. Nicely done. Is this about your pet or just inspired by cats in general? Either way, a very nice write! -

I see it!
I could see the whole event! My goodness what nice imagery! I've always been afraid of a cougar doing that to my house cats here in the mountains, ha ha. They say that the house cat is one of their favorite snacks up here. I hope not!
Nice write!
