I went on line early one day
Looking at my accounts
I knew I had some bills to pay
I couldn’t believe the amounts!
Panic stricken I clicked the mouse
There was something terribly wrong
I checked the bank, the brokerage house
Where had my money gone?
A million bucks, that’s all that’s left!
I know this can’t be right!
I think it must be Internet theft!
The cash has gone from my sight!
I gave a million to charity
So that couldn’t be the reason
The tax break will come back to me
With funding for next season
It couldn’t have been the mink I bought
It was only eight hundred K
It can’t be the diamond earrings I sought
I’m buying them today
I’ll call my lawyer and my dad
There must be something I can do
This terrible mess is really sad
There must be someone I can sue
No one will like me anymore
I’ll probably lose my honey
He’ll think I’m just a nasty whore
Because I lost my money
My stomach is tied in a knot
I’ll never get the expansion
I’m going to lose the yacht
I’ll probably lose the mansion
Chapter seven; that’s what I’ll file
My head hurts bad it’s really sore
I’ll fire the help but at least I’ll smile
Now I know what it’s like to be poor

Very humorous. Thank you for giving the contest a nice spin... so far the entries have all been quite serious and slightly depressing.
Thanks again and good luck. This was very well written and amusing.

This is a great write of how some who are of fortune may feel, Yet anyone would feel this if rob of their possesions. In the end true richness is not money. It may come in handy but, in time it could be replaced. Those we love, our family friends,co workers are what makes us rich. Those memorys we make with them. The happy ,sad and rough times we go through together. Well done.

Thanks, I agree, if you read my response to the last comment; wealth is not measured in dollars. This is a contest poem done for fun.
