Night,
fallen like a silken sheet
cascading blue-violet
over the metallic silhouettes of Earth.
I peer across the lake,
the weathered wood like sandpaper
beneath my naked toes.
my face, dark and still,
ripples to the rythym of my reflection.
The water laps at the bank
like a beating, melodious heart.
Further off in the distance,
ivory stars flicker like stationary fish,
obediently glistening beneath the surface.
All the while my heart aches to join them,
to slip silently into the silky blackness
while the waves reach the shoreline,
and retreat back into themselves.
