My Bower in the Tower

Welcome to my 'penthouse',
the view is great from here!
In my waterbed, I love to float
and have some wine or beer.

My sitting room is where I sit
to write these poems for you.
It holds a painting of my muse,
(who helped with one or two).

The angels on the ceiling
add a spritely, spiritual touch.
I've many chandeliers although
I do not light them much.

My kitchen's just like Martha's,
that rich gal on TV.
I've got everything that she has
except for her money!

I have a hall of mirrors,
you'll see it's very clever,
for if you stand 'dead center',
the hall goes on forever!

Statues of 'manly' men
stand by my bedroom walls.
They give me pseudo-security
when I make bathroom calls.

My bathroom is humongous,
it has a four-seat jacuzzi.
You'll love my spacious sauna;
my masseur is quite a doozy!

I love my 'home away from home',
I spend a lot of time here.
If you should ever want me to leave,
you'll have to make me, dear!

Love the angels and the feel of this. The jacuzzi is perfect! LOL You are quite the decorator. I know I will enjoy my visit. You don't need Martha's money by the way. You are rich in spirit. The best to you in the challenge.

I've never slept on a waterbed, I have a feeling it would make me seasick.

You can have Martha's kitchen...that leaves me her money...bet she'd kill me with her bare hands if I took 10 cents!

Statues of manly men? How nice of you to have pictures of me and Ima on your wall!

Oh, Maureen, I'm so glad I caught this as I'm re-reading all the entries before voting... I don't see how I missed it before.

It's a wonderful poem, you've brought your dream bower to life with the elegant but simple surroundings... well, not too simple, I see some pretty fancy stuff there

I hope your masseur is available when we all come to visit or are you keeping him all t yourself??

You've decorted beautifully, good luck in the contest

Thank you for your good wishes! My masseur will be available for all my visitors. After you leave, I'll have him all to myself! WooHoo!

I love the description of your bower rooms! You've thought of some lovely, unique things...like the angels on the ceiling, and those "manly men" near the bathroom...although I must confess, I'm afraid they would remind me of times I've been in the hospital and having a nurse right outside the bathroom door knocking every 10 seconds and asking, "are you okay in there?" Still, I would love to come and visit...I'll just try not to drink too much while I'm there.

    Good luck and best wishes,
    ~J.

    Hooley Dooley I love it!

    Dear Maureen,
What fun it is to decorate our Bower's and not have to worry about the cost.
You have designed wonderful plans for yours with your gorgeous bed. I love the ceilings with the angels on it and the statues of manly men! WOO HOO! But then, I have my Heath and he is sooo manly and he has his hands full with me, I keep him on his toes.
Lovely poem, I enjoyed reading it very much. May I visit your Bower sometime?
    Love Hine.

Shall I just say that I may have to try out your sauna, as I dearly enjoy them. Everyone's bowers sound so wonderful and perfectly suited to their tastes, and yours is no less lovely. It sounds like such a calming atmosphere. Best of luck!

Hmmm...now that I think of it, I'd better do my drinking in my sitting room (maybe it will inspire me to write more poems). I don't get hang overs..I sit and sip (not slurp) Thanks for your good wishes!

      Cheers to you!

You describe your chambers with delightful humour, Maureen, and lilting meter and rhyme. I smiled at "that rich gal on TV", and enjoyed the whole poem. I am also partial to towers. Good luck!

    I'm coming over!!

    Your penthouse in the tower,
I would like to visit please,
Perhaps we could start by being friends,
And then invite me with ease.

    First I would feel seasick,
    By laying on your waterbed,
But take a motion sickness pill,
    To still my silly head.

And while I lay on your bed,
I will view your beautiful ceiling,
Even though the chandeliers aren't lit,
I would watch them as they were hanging.

I'll need to look in the mirror,
    More than once or twice,
Just to make sure of course,
    That I look very nice.

I may ache a little too,
So can I have a jacuzzi and shower?
After I've had a massage of course,
    From your very manly masseur!

    Your home away from home,
    Sounds absolutely dreamy,
And the kitchen I won't forget,
Does it have ice cream that's creamy?

You're welcome to come to my bower,
    At anytime you want,
    I'm a very selfless person,
    That would be so quaint.

    Love and hugs,
    Petratani

      Come on Up!

I enjoyed your poem..welcome to my home!

I've got creamy ice cream and other treats,
      sure, I'll share my masseur!
You can soak in my jacuzzi
      and linger in my shower..
      then I will venture over
to see you in your bower.

      Love,
      Maureen

lol...sounds like a lovely castle. Though seems to have had a few updates since I lived there back in the 1400s...

    I mostly saw the dungeon
    strapped down upon the rack
    and stretched again and again
till it almost broke my back

    Then put witin iron maiden
untill filled with points of leak
    I thought I was a goner
till it opened, with a creak

    Then they slipped on thumbscrews
    and gave a mighty spin
I thought I lost my fingers
    till I did look..again

Then placed within iron wrist bands
to stand at gates of hell
    Till I was finally rescued
from that place where I did dwell...

    Hugs...Eddy

You're older than I thought! Things have changed a lot since the days of yore. Now we castle dwellers have all we want and MORE!

Enjoyed your poem! Thanks for visiting me! Sometimes it's lonely at the top! (I mean in my tower, of course.)

      Hugs,

    Sounds delicious

    Dear Maureen,
Well, I'll certainly be visiting your Bower, it sounds very intriguing, a wall of mirror's, sounds great. In our shopping centre they have a lift like that, you can see yourself going on and on.
The manly men, hmmmm never thought of that, but I love the idea of the angels on the ceiling.
And guess what? You ain't gonna leave.
Enjoy your home away from home.
    Love Joan

      Thank you, Joan!

      Dear Joan,

I wrote some of this with tongue in cheek..hoping to get a chuckle or two. The last sentence read "You'll have to wake me, my dear" to show I was writing about the home of my dreams, but I wasn't sure that would be obvious so I changed it. Now I'm off to read yours! I'm sure I'm going to love it!

      Love,
      Maureen

Don't worry my dear friend I had quite a chuckle while I was reading it. And what a fantastic dream to have, all those delicious men, and the last line sounds great that you had.

    Dear Maureen,

Thankyou for your entry in this Huguenauties contest.
As I do not own a computer but use Hugh’s from time to time, I have asked Hugh to comment on my behalf on each entry to save my travelling across town each time.
Thankyou for understanding and excusing me.
    Good luck in the contest.

    Dear Maureen,

The King is mighty pleasured by your entry
which describes your bower in detail fairly numerous
with provision for receiving dames and gentry
in an atmosphere convivial and humourous.

Your Hall of Mirrors is a touch ingenious
which Ludwig would have certainly enjoyed
had he, in life, been rather more abstemious
    and less excessive gluttony employed.

I hope that in your dreams you will receive,
into your bower, this humble King as such
for he would never want for you to leave
because he loves you very, very much.

You'll note he makes no mention of your breast,
but wishes you success in this contest.

Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh R.
