Little Red, you were doing good
Taking cookies where you should,
But I inquire, why require
A walk alone through wood?
Wolves live there, I’m sure you know
And why walk where you should not go?
You tempt such fate, by woodman’s gate.
Is your naiveté just a show?
Where’s mother, or her significant other?
Why didn’t they consider your cover?
Poor parenting skill, knowing it still,
That evil lurks and bright eyes hover.
Retrace your tracks and take due care,
Your cookies they want to share.
You are master of self, best kept on a shelf
Than fate to constantly dare.
Taking cookies where you should,
But I inquire, why require
A walk alone through wood?
Wolves live there, I’m sure you know
And why walk where you should not go?
You tempt such fate, by woodman’s gate.
Is your naiveté just a show?
Where’s mother, or her significant other?
Why didn’t they consider your cover?
Poor parenting skill, knowing it still,
That evil lurks and bright eyes hover.
Retrace your tracks and take due care,
Your cookies they want to share.
You are master of self, best kept on a shelf
Than fate to constantly dare.
Author notes
Little Red Ridinghood is an old story sung by minstrels that spoke tot he time where a daughter was to be kept virginal in case the King or higher men might pay a good price for them. Most girls were sent to nunneries and convents to be kept chaste. These days, seems to me, aprents do not take such care and girls are caretakers of their own and realize the price of chastity or not.

A good message to all who do not think of their own safety and engage in risky behaviors because the wolves of the world look so compelling...from a distance. Well done. Congrats.

Great job! The rhyming is quite nice; refreshing. A mistake or two:
"Is your naiveté is just a show?" -- you have "is" twice
otherwise, this is a great piece! Thanks!

I like the line
"where's mother or significant other"
and the thought of cookies to share...
all in all I think it is always abought something lost and something gained...and freedom to flower
in rose to gather where ye may...
