The feelings of being alone
Come many times in your life
The darts of pain that strangle
Your thoughts crush your heart
Reside in your soul weigh
You’re very being down to the ground

Knowing that the loneliness can
Last for minutes or hours or days
Ever attempt is to try to forget
Ignore the obvious go on as if
All is right with the world
Where within you know
Life will catch up with you

Sometimes the mind can take
Mini vacation from worry
Thoughts fill your mind of
Times when you were so filled
With ecstasy when romance
Was a part of your everyday life

Then like cleansing rain pouring
From your eyes falling to your face
Realization that reality is
Staring right at you

Alone again in the emptiness
Of the space you exist in void
Bones chilled, joy erased
Arms reaching out
To embrace an elusive dream
That can tear your world apart
