I try to live my life
like mama always did
She taught me right from wrong
when I was but a kid
I should have showed my love
for now she's gone away
With the angels up above
it was my saddest day
Mom your always with me
whenever I do good
Still I strive each day to be
the man you hoped I would
I wished I had the power
your life I could not save
Now all I give is flowers
and talk to mamas grave
Author notes

this is incredibly ironic for at this time i am listening to SOmebody's hero by Jamie o neil. but anyway this was amazing. we always have regrets in life and must fight the thought to blame ourselves. great write

This is a great poem. Everytime I visit my Mom I cry, but I tell her everything that's going on in my life. I talk to her when I'm stressed and even when I'm happy...but our Mommy's are probably sittin' in heaven drinkin' coffee or tea and eatin' lorna doones!

thank you for entering my contest,
Rosita -
nice
the rhyme was dead on....i so can't imagin losing my mom....i dread that moment.....sorry about your loss..best of luck -
This is so sad and full of a pain that I guess nobody can take from you... It is very honest..
I pray that you find solace in your life....
The poem is very well written in itself..All the best!

Touching
I feel like this poem was written to me because my mom died when I was really young. This is a great poem, and really touching. You don't know what you have until it's gone. And people are like that to. You never realize the impact they have on you. Great Write. You captured a lot of emotion -
That hit home as I have no parents left.

I can relate to this pain so well. I lost my mom to cancer last year. This is exactly how I feel all the time, striving to be who she would have wanted me to be. It keeps me going.

Your write is so beautifully penned. I wanted to cry as I read through this. There is so much tanglible pain in your lines.
A mother's love is special. And I am sure she is proud of you!
Keep writing dear poet, and best of luck in the contest.
Take care,
Lonely Shouts

This is a lovely poem you penned here, I can relate as I lost my mother and father and they are who I have become today, but I know they are watching me from up above like your mother is as well, may she rest in piece, sorry to hear about your loss. Your rhythm and rhyme flowed beautifully throughout the entire poem. Well done dear poet it was a very emotional read
