Safe And Sound

My heart begins racing
Toward the end of tomorrow
It's still beating
Panic runs emotions
People hit the ground
Echos of screams run through the town
Blood begin spilling
It's the end of the world
People screaming
Yet I find myself racing home
Yet I find myself all alone
With my family
Safe and sound

"I will protect you
Even if i die
I will protect you
I do not lie"

For my family means everything to me
To the edge of earth
To the bottom of the sea
Every last moment would be with them
Every last tear drop would fall on them
For I do not dare let them go
For I would hold them so very close
That I could hear their breath
Their heart beating against my chest
Their living soul
Their blood in mine that makes me whole
Slowly I begin to cry
My daughter wiped the tear drop from my eye
Sending the message the worlds about to die
Yet a simile set on my face
None of this mattered
As long as my family
Remained in its place
The worlds about to end
I hear a boom
The human race is dead

    poignant, and something i'm sure many people can relate to
    well, i hope they can relate anyway.

    the ending finishes the whole poem nicely
    it's very sudden
    as if.. that's it, it's all over.
    which reflects the subject perfectly.

    Excellent poem. I can relate to it some. I love how you painted out a picture to a very strong family. I thought that was wonderful.Great job, keep up the good writes.
