A Huguelot Triptych - NOT an Entry
Along the cobbled causeway leading to the massive door
of Castle Huguelot the knights and dames make rapid haste
for twelve months have advanced since last year’s Annual Ball we danced
and Muses chaste would be shamefaced if we the time should waste
and not be ready dressed, all in our best, as in the year before.
From courtyard beds by splashing fountain’s gently murmured tune,
the peaceful garden walk where poets wander hand-in-hand,
the welcoming solarium where dreamers laze entranced,
to the polished floors of marble halls for balls or banquets grand,
the workmen haste, no time to waste, to make all ready soon.
The time has come, for everyone, their bowers to adorn
with elegance and culture, flair and quiet refinement everywhere,
so that their comfort is enhanced. All furnishings will be financed
by CAATCH who, from her ample treasure chests, will surely spare
no outlay nor suborn whatever King Hugh R. has sworn.
And so the King entreats each Knight and Dame without delay
to pen their preferences having no heed to expenses
but in verse (NOT prose) now to propose the ideas they advanced
to decorate their private bowers thus suiting finest senses
and King Hugh swears that all his dears will have the final say..
Hugh R. February 15th. 2007.

Note: Each bower will consist of:
Small entrance hall; Kitchen;
Bedchamber with en-suite Bathroom, (please state preference bath or shower);
Sitting room (with or without private dining facility and/or
dressing room with wardrobe accommodation.)

Your Majesty
Thankyou for NOT Entering this contest.
I am sure that your loyal subjects are grateful. -
I could have sworn I commented on this already, but it appears not.
The meter and rhyme looks far more complicated than my mind can even grasp at the moment. I know you put an incredible amount of time into this group and all the writes you do for us. Just so you know, it is very much appreciated.
Much love and
s
~J.

Grandpa, you are far too kind! Are you sure the castle bank will not be broke after our expendetures?!

Your poem is very clever, sire,
with much internal rhyming,
describing Huguelot so well,
and its construction timing.
In haste we told of special needs,
they reached your eager ears;
we now await unveiling day
to give our King three cheers!

Dear Margaret,
Why! Thankyou for your kindly words and also your applause.
I'm glad my triptych meets with your esteem.
It took me hours to get it right, essentially because
of the complicated meter and rhyme scheme.
Love and hugs as always, XXX Hugh R.

The poem was going along just fine until these infamous words:
but in verse (NOT prose)
It was like a bolt of electricity had been shot through my body...if I'd been guilty of something I'd have sworn I'd been placed in the electric chair...no prose...take away a man's Moxie won't you!
Then I realized, Yem and his buddy Ima play by their own rules...what goes for everyone else does not apply to them... Okay, okay, okay, I guess we can muster something that sort of looks like a poem.

Dear Sir Yem,
By definition, modern verse is any metered line
consisting of a quantity of feet.
It isn't necessary that the end-words have to rhyme
as long as there's a steady, rhythmic beat.

Thankyou Sire
Dear Sire,
Thankyou for explaining so well our Castle Huguelot with it's grand gardens and the splendour of the rooms.
It's fascinating reading the other entrants on how they wish their Bowers to look like.
Love Jen.

Our King has spoken once again, his generous heart overflowing.
Thank you, your highness, you are truly a king among kings. We could ask for no better

Great Triptych
Dear Hugh,
Good to see an entry from you, even if it is a NON entry one. It's a great Triptych my friend.
You've laid the requirements out very clearly for us to follow.
But doesn't the King and Queen need their quarters decorated too? I guess being a Castle the kings quarters they are always in perfect condition.
love Bea
