Where the light of the world is glory divine
in the presence of He, who is worthy of praise
No need for the sun or the moon there to shine
illumination received by the glow of His face.
Great chorus of spirits in melodious bliss
singing praises of Him, who does sit on the throne
No words can lend proper description of this
glorious, hallowed, and beautiful song.
Most precious, His Son, sits at His right side,
who gave up His life, and does now intercede
for His brethren, He loves, might have otherwise died,
our salvation sufficient, to Him, for, to bleed.
To what do we owe Him this blessed sacrifice?
All thankfulness, honor and glory and praise
and yet, it is never enough to suffice
for in the house of our Father, He made us a place.
He carried our weaknesses, sorrows and sins
when the crucifix, upon His shoulders He bore.
He gave us victory and defeat over them
and He left them on Calvary forever more.
Blessed, Holy, Faithful and Pure
Christ, Jesus, who died for me.
Precious, Graceful, and Merciful, are You
Your blood has set me free.
Please tell me what you think

DEAR SUSAN
I do not see you on much while I am and have from time to time checked in to see if you have new ones. It has been hard for me to read as I like to try to understand what they write about so I have not been reading lately. I will be checking in and reading more real soon.

The poetic expression of belief, is held so gently here, a view of the Sacrifice that affirms belief, upholds our faith, The Faith. Little can be found to fault your poem, i agree with its tenets…agree with your statement and it truly is a lovely expression of love and adoration for This Great Gift…
I have been writing now, not as much or as well as so many here, for a little over three years, just three years – that’s all. So i cannot be as critical in a literary way at all, and as far as i can tell – your statements are theologically sound – four years in bible school and two more teaching Biblical and Systematic theology allow me that observation.
But the poetic element is something that has been intriguing to me…how and what we write has been of interest to me. And WHY we write…the impetus, the drive, or need to express our hearts and our souls.
I do not want to diminish what your have written here in your wonderful poem at all, it is truly lovely…what i am asking – what i always ask is, why? What was it, what is it that brings a poem like this into being? Here is what i think ( and you can tell me to pound sand or stick my opinion where the sun don’t shine ) I think it is written not so much out of praise or spiritual unction, if you will, but out of something much deeper. The place Jung calls the unconscious. The place where the unspoken life tries to find expression. – i wont go there – (maybe later) The thing i am trying to get at, poorly, is that what i find most interesting is how I would approach this, a sinner save by grace, washed in the Blood, and still say why? What hits me is; that when I am in the dark, spent time wandering around where i shouldn’t, knowingly wandering off the narrow path, and i make it back ‘home’ by turning ‘rightly’ what i produce is often in this nature, expression of a soul’s gratitude. What this feels like is a poem of cleansing the spirit ( lower case “s” ) a cleansing of thoughts, a refocusing of commitment and calling… Could also be the rising awareness of an Easter season. I guess i’ve rambled long enough, probly bored you to death, soapbox rants bore me too. Thanks for sharing your poem, it really got me thinking. Blessings and best wishes, ~richard

Not boring at all, your deep inspirational thoughts are quite intriguing to me. I do have to admit, that I did stray off the proverbial path for many years after having been baptized as a teen, and have recently, (just a few months ago), rededicated my life to the Lord. So I am sure that the depths of this poem and the reason behind writing it is a deep thankfulness and faith that this forgiveness is still here for me, even though I am not perfect. But also, there is a drive in me, which I am VERY sure is spiritual, to let others know that this same forgiveness is theirs also, just for the asking. I fully believe that we each have a purpose here, a deep and meaningful purpose in His perfect plan. And I also fully believe that the Holy Spirit uses us to reach people with this message, through our works, such as a simple poem. And if one of my poems can reach one person and bring that one person to, or... back to, (whichever the case may be), Him, then it was Well worth the time and effort. My heart overflows with joy. Many Blessings to you and yours always, and thank you so very much for such a wonderful and thought provoking commentary on this. I enjoyed pondering the depths of..... why.
