Here they come
thundering around the track
Barbaro ahead
by a lick and a prayer-
the Preakness Triple Crown
is in reach-
his jockey reaches for it as they flash by
one chestnut colt
rips the track apart
streaking ahead like lightning
chafing at the bit
open the gate!!!
pistol
hoof thunder
and the ground comes rushing up to meet me
something snapped
and I'm a goner-
the triple-peaked crown
fades away.
Barbaro is no more.
