how it felt when your arms were comfort
instead of weight
how we spent time together for enjoyment
and not just for want
of something better;
your eyes use to sparkle with amusement
when I walked into a room,
early morning hair
cramped into rat's nests
and a yawn still breaking apart
my face
when I would bounce silly
as my body ached
for sleep
when I spoke out of line,
interrupted
just to say "I love you"
use to, use to, use to--
Now we are irritants, chaffing
against each other's skin,
invading
parasites
instead of lovers
blanket thieves
and I make my own coffee, now-
while you practice
'old timers' on the sofa
and I'm merely the one
who fixes dinner, folds laundry
and we never kiss, but peck
the tight of clothes-line lips
and look the other way.

yeah, it's a phase.

the silent phase

This tends to be a phase for us at times too. Sometimes we get so caught up in everything else that we forget to wonder about each other.

I was just about to say that. It will reignite for sure. There are passages in life this one is a middle passage that usually ends with a blissful night of love-making and a return to what "used" to be. Let us hope anyway. Simply penned with a powerful message of discontent. You'll "bounce" soon enough, and he will "fold".
Again, I agree with the author's notes.
Much Love ♥

My friend as I have read through the few years now of your poetry I am not suprised likewise not amazed that such poetry comes from the muse or personal life of yours. I am awe stucked at how depe and e-motionally intensed this poem is. unique methaphors really make this poem shione and the added depth and e-miotion through out the poem really makes this an all round attractive poem. Excelent job as always and keep up the good work. Sincerely, Paul

by the way, this was extremely touching...
especially
the part about your hair and yawn in the morning and the part about your silly bounce when you were tired...
how special it made you feel to feel special to him... I could feel the ache.
Maybe he should read this.

aah, i know this feeling well ~ i often wonder is it the comfortableness - like a pair of comfy slippers you just can't throw away, or being taken for granted?
after nearly 30 years with my man i guess its a bit of both, children, work, bills, stresses of everyday life mean i don't even get the peck on the cheek - and that's kinda my responsibility too, and now all these years later i think but i could have done something about it and it would have stayed exciting lol! and sometimes i think... comfortable is ok as long as i am not taken for granted...
great poem and sorry about my waffling

You know... I also wonder if there was something I could of done (or maybe could of NOT done) to prevent this "settling"... ah, I wonder if we all do? I wonder if they think about that also... or just go about their lives?
Thank you.

Well, thought out..nicely done. A great expression of a deep image of natural truth. And the last few lines gave me a sonnet kinda vibe. All in all, very enjoyable. Well done and thank you for sharing. This is a great poem. I love it all... the poem, the background, the topic....it's all great. keep writing......you have a lot to offer.
