Special Day

I'm not going to say "I love you,"
or give you flowers,
or chocolate,
or even buy you a card.

I'm not going to wear pink,
or sexy lingerie,
or sing love songs in the shower,
or doodle cute little hearts everywhere.

I won't tell anyone how much I love you,
or how lucky I am,
or discuss our plans for tonight.

I won't giggle with girlfriends,
or wonder if you got me a present,
or question why you haven't wished me a Happy Valentine's Day.

Not today.
Not just because of the date.

Our special day is in November.
In May.
In June.
In December and April.

We celebrate in September and March.
In January.
In August.
In July and October.

February is our month off.

Because we say "I love you" too much already.

Author notes

Valentine's Day is a good thought, corrupted. Chocolates and flowers and cards don't prove love on any day, let alone on a "special" day set aside for just that reason. It almost cheapens the expression simple because it is expected of everyone.

Why not show your love on a regular basis?
Why make it a rarity to make your love feel special?

Please tell me what you think

    The Truth

I feel this poem so much. It is so sad what reality really is if you sit down and think about it. I'm happy that there are two of us that share the same philosophy of Valintimes Day. This poems touches me so much. At first I thought it was going to be a gushy love poem but any gushy love poem compared to this one will not shine as bright for no only is the truth told but your love proves more than just a day.
