Row by row they sit inside,
Chanting stories, line by line.
Pulling sentences to shreds
Page by page, inside my head.
Un-toned words and undone rhymes
Read so slowly, line by line.
I cry as migraines start to come,
Their ceaseless chanting - me, undone.
I pour some life into my words…
But, beaten down, they die unheard.
Author notes
Really (moody) poem by me. Is there anything wrong with putting some emphasis on words when you're reading out loud in class???
just one of my pet peeves...
"He's dead, Jim."

Hmmm, interesting thought. From the title I half expected an inspirational poem on the possibly enlightening english class you had..but instead it was this, and that is in no way a bad thing at all. Reading in public is not easy, especially when you are not necassarily a great reader or perhaps are with a group of people that do not appreciate a good read, it takes courage to read something aloud with passion and emphasis. If more people felt comfortable with it I think reading would take on a new light for people...wow umm ya, juts my thoughts.
I enjoyed your poem. Best wishes
