Packing girlhood away
In a card-board box -
Regal adulthood awaits -
As I stuff memories
And well-loved dolls down.
The princesses cry as I
Lock them away – far from falling towers.
The bears roar, open-mouthed as I pull
The box tight, taping
The edges, sealing them
Into the eternity of mislaid souls.
White dresses and bows,
All manner of clothes -
But the fairy-tale has moved on.
As I shut them and hide them,
I lock them and bind them
Into their grave in the cardboard box

I liked the bit of personification in the second stanza, thought the pronouns were overdone, and didn't think it was written from as mature a perspective as you were trying to achieve. Thanks for entering.

This is very good, it is how you feel when childhood items are placed in boxes and locked away. But they remain with the heart, which is always the heart of a child. Your last line is very strong, and very good.
Stories
from my childhood,
hidden in the attic
of my mind, revived in my dreams
and words.
