Maiden's Knight and Fate

There, majestically, rode a fair Maiden.

Upon the white of the Unicorn.

Her name was of the utmost beauty,

and so she rode into the grove.

So there flew her husband that was a knight,

his respect for her was perfect and of knightly chivalry.

Then in-front of him he saw the smoke of war.

He was warned but ordered his wife to say no more.

She had a dream of broken bone and fate.

This all happened in the late of day.

He said he was no coward and if he was,

Chivalry would be broken but because,

he didn't listen fate would take it's course.

The knight and dragon entered the field.

The deafening sound of clashing swords

gave the knight his nervousness,

and then an arrow came through his chest.

The Maiden began to cry as she rode

from the barren landscape into the grove.

A crooked root of tree came from the earth.

Her faithful unicorn began to trip to fall.

His beautiful horn hit first,

and the rings around snapped.

It cried out in pain with a neigh,

as the knight's soul was on his way.

The maiden waited along the path

not knowing what to do and hath

she stood she would die of heartbreak.

She laid there until it was too late.

This is very very sad. But very nicely written. I liked the story. And I really love how you managed to put a Knight, A Maiden, A Dragon and a Unicorn all in one poem.
Just a correction here in this line: "It cried out in pain with a nay" it should be "neigh" coz 'nay' mean no.

Keep on writing, and thank you for entering this in my contest.

I loved it!!! I love to read these types of tales and i really dug the story. I was deffanitly drawn into it. I also kinda like the part where she had a dream or somewhat of a premanision nd it reminded me of the story of Julius Ceasre(sp) and how his wife had a preminsion of war and death but Julius went anyway and died. Great write really enjoyed reading it.
