You can never
be truly
free . .
Not
whilst
you are trapped
within your being
For a body
requires . .
yes needs . .
to be sustained
Is one ever free
perhaps . .
only when sleep
creeps upon you
And then . .
what of your
earthly
wretchedness
In slumbering
you simply escape
momentarily . .
from reality
To awake . .
to . . responsibilities
perhaps misfortune
and consequences’ . .
Perhaps God
in heaven
will eventually
let us fly free . .
But then . .
What of now .

What of now?
We live the best we can I guess. We teach and learn. Love, laugh, cry and live. We treat others with care in the hopes that they will return the favor either to ourselves or someone more deserving. Freedom is unique to each of us it is a personal journey through life where we come at the end to the place we are meant to be. -
Great wrtie! I think freedom is merely the attitude we have.... what makes us free is something to do with spirit and spirit's belief..soul and soul's desire. Subjective.....indvidiual. Evocative thought here....

i wondered if this is for the poet "Karmic Lady" who used to be known as " Rose of Ireland" its a nice tribute, but i also know of Orla Brady who also is known as The Rose of Ireland “ ( http://www.orlabrady.net ) But whomEVER this is for, it is a lovely flow, a brilliant poem with concepts that would make any philosopher cheer. Blessings and best wishes, ~richard
and here’s to the day when our momentary sleep becomes eternal…

I am not sure - I made this tribute because I came across her poem by the same name which I commented on then wrote one of my own - I will find out in due course who she is I expect hehe . .

Introspective Delight!
I agree. How can we truly be free while dragging around our mortal bodies? It is in the unbinding where freedom truly exists. I fly in my dreams, run fast and never run out of breath, can breathe underwater, and can be in more places than one. My dream reality is truly another reality, and I live and solve problems in both, but in my slumber, I never hunger or thirst. I believe it might be closer to the spiritual freedom, providing just a taste of what is to come. Wonderful dedication, Albert, and the painting is so vivid and fitting for your enlightened words. Love to you and yours!--Kel

Only in true love are you set free...but then, like an eagle needs air... to soar....

Pensive and sad, another winner!

I have recently accessed that freedom is simply a state of mind. Oft times we bind ourselves needlessly. We are what we think. I think I am free therefore I am free. A very thought-inducing writ here Albert! I have often thought of slumber as the closest sense of dying that the human can witness and return to speak of. I love the feel of this work. It takes the reader on a journey of discovery. I feel a bit more free after reading this. LOL
Much Love ♥

Thought provokingly profound
Funny thing bout our body, we expect it to carry our heart, mind, and soul without much appropriate nurturing or balanced lifestyle. But then again there are physical handicaps that can also entrap our wondrous beings from accomplishing our dreams as well.
Brilliantly ascribed and methodically executed, Albert. Thanks you, friend.
