stains make rings
on my side of this wide table
but merely puddle on yours
as if even coffee knows
better than to cross lines
clink of cups sharply ping plates
speed of spoons’ furious stir
brown brew heats us
one hot word after another
Author notes
Piece #1
One Syllable Words
one syllable words
laced our morning coffee
served without inflection
from tight lips
framed in sugary smiles
cleverly disguising
hatred that simmered
in the long pauses
and lingered in our
unspoken thoughts

Your writes are always so expressive. This is no exception - love the imagery. The words you used are also splendid~
