What once was new
And then was passed
Then returned again
True love at last?
What once was full
And now is empty
Love was all
The course had plenty
When love is forced
It does not remain
Seeks its' own
So clear and plain
What turns to sorrow
Heartbreak and pain
When it feels like thunder
Tears fall like rain
What cuts so deep
Down through the marrow
Then it's torn away
What remains to follow?
The silence deafens
When it's all been said
Can't take no more
The feeling's dead
What's birthed in love
Died in sorrow
Will love rise again
In a new tomorrow?

Liked the question and answer way in which you write this poem - when love fails, one cannot hang up and wish it back again. Liked the flow in these lines.

I really loved these three stanzas:
"What once was new
And then was passed
Then returned again
True love at last?"
"What's born in sorrow
Heartbreak and pain
When it feels like thunder
Tears fall like rain"
"What's birthed in love
Died in sorrow
Will love rise again
In a new tomorrow?"
because (for the first and third stanza I listed) I loved how the question at the end, and the way you worded everything. For the middle stanza I listed, I love how it paints a picture in my mind. -

Graceful in style and poetic form. Imagery and content so full of hidden meanings. For love to mean anything it has to be from the heart. How true! Lovely poem.
You did have one typo though...'When it feels like thnder', I think you meant the word thunder'
Otherwise wonderfully done. ~Sie

Thank you Nature Song for your comment. I was reflecting on a failed relationship. Sometimes we have to just let go. Life always holds the promise of a better tomorow. We send our request out to space and meanwhile we live this day. Peace. Alberto.

i am not certain if the love you sought returned or if the answer to your prayer is that it was not forced. however, the stanza i pasted is so meaningful to me. i once tried to do the 'right' thing and hurt three people dearly. myself and two others. i ended up with no one but me (and that is not a bad thing) but i learned that if someone does not love me, i can not force them to. if someone does love me, i cannot make them not love me and i better cherish it with all of my soul for one day it may be gone and unable to ever return. thank you for sharing this with me. you have just given me much thought for my night time dreams. viyanna roseamarie

excellent
Sometimes God seems to take so long to answer our prayers that we wonder of He didn't hear us... So it is particularly good that He has answered your prayer this time! I am wondering about the question mark in the end?

Thank you, froglover for your comment. What you say is so true. The Spirit actually has recently answered this prayer or longing in my heart. He always answers prayers, sometimes not in the way we expect or the time-frame we're looking for. I must admonish, beware what you wish for! Peace.
