Stumble,
Flashing lights.
Someone would catch you.
Neon strobe lights drench you in pinks and greens.
Laugh from a lipsticked mouth,
Crude guestures,
Jerky movements.
Wipe away blue mascara,
And shake back bleached blonde hair,
A million miles away from home.
Hail a cab,
Not going yet?
Stumble to the next doorway,
Trip inside.
Music pumps,
Wipe the sweat from your eyes.
Six-inch stillettos wobble in time to the beat.
Swing your arms,
Nod your head,
And dance around your handbag.
Blink as you step outside.
Too loud,
With music still ringing in your head.
Another drink,
Another bar,
Another dance.
Light up.
Pin-point of red in the neon moon-light.
Screw up your posture;
Cough and drag yourself home.
Author notes
I don't know what Dirty Pretty is either really. I don't think it's anything in particular. It isn't a style I really have that much respect for, as so few seem to be able to pull it off. (Including myself, I'm sure.) I think it is just a simple way of writing poetry. It is definately emo. I can see no form to it, I think it is all about the subject matter instead. Sorry if I am no help. At least I will be able to read other people's explanations in this contest, and learn a little more about it myself.

I adored this, it was so shivery and li-up. Like strobe lights and rainbows in a blender. It was a veyr losing grip, falling down sort've poem totally enjoyed it. I felt like I was inside this messy girls mind wandering, dancing, shivering. Excellent.
