Tell yourself you aren't one

Stupid people,
stupid town,
stupid religion,
they stupidly follow around.

Go to church,
pay your respects,
show your distaste,
then leave.

Church?
what utter BS.
I can't stand them,
and their hipocracy.

Go to church,
pretend thats what you are.
Pretend, you sorry excuses,
for what human was supposed to be.

You call yourself a christian,
well, christian I am,
but no longer,
do I want to be.

Used to be good,
hell, Now I'm going there, you say,
for all this stuff I'm saying,
Hey, I'll see you there.

Christians think
that they are good,
so wordly,
so perfect.

Opposite of themselves.
They sit there on TV,
begging for money,
jewels upon their fingers.

They profess that they are,
what they aren't,
Watch me roast in hell?
yeah, You'll be across from me.

They think I'm doomed to hell,
well, so are they,
they who disgrace themselves,
calling themselves christians.

They who think,
that they are right,
and others are wrong,
others are evil.

Call him a terrorist,
he who is muslim,
just look in a mirror,
tell yourself you aren't one.

Author notes

Alright. This is what I feel. I am a christian, and I'll always be one. I'm told that I am evil, and that I am going to hell for befriending those, "Damn muslim terrorists". ITs sick. I'm going to hell for beign friends with muslims, for being friends with goths, satanists, cutters, my boyfriend who is Mormon, and so many more. It disgraces me to be associated with such hipocrites.

and yes, I used the abbreviation for Bullshit, cuz I am tenative about using it in my poetry.

So yes, I am bashing my own religion, well, not really, I'm bashing my fellow christians. The televangelists, the preachers who drive the new mustangs, my fellow churchgoers who turn a wicked eye upon me, someone different.

I'm not bashing specific people, I'm bashing an entity, more or less.

My thoughts exactly. I'm condemned for being friends with homosexuals in particular. I'm from Texas, so you can only imagine. I was Christian and I dealt with the hypocrisy. Now, I just don't care anymore. I questioned many things to the point where I had no answers.

Though that's not the point. Point is, my problem was also hypocrits. It still is, I just care less about them.

    "Used to be good,
hell, Now I'm going there, you say,
for all this stuff I'm saying,
    Hey, I'll see you there."

That sums up how I feel.

    "Call him a terrorist,
    he who is muslim,
    just look in a mirror,
    tell yourself you aren't one."

Beautiful ending. I'm definately bookmarking this poem. So that makes 3 total.

I'm going to hell in a handbasket, and I know it! yay! Hells for hipocrites and liars, et cetera.

I mean...Its hard to question so much of my beliefs...But I've persevered, and I still believe. I don't know why, I just do.

      again, thanks!

I'm a Christian... I will admit that I sometimes shake my head in disbelief at other Christians, but, I guess one religion can NOT be judged because of the people who choose to call themselves such and such.

Christian's do seem to get a bad name, and I can understand why sometimes... but, it's that way with other religions too. They all have bad "followers", but, not all of us are bad. I guess it's like that saying goes... "Take the good, with the bad". I don't know, But...

The poem was powerful, very opinionated. Good job and good luck with the contest.

This is VERY good. A favourite.
What "wonderful" faith can condemn others as such? It is horrible, in my opinion.
Be friends with whoever you want. A religion shouldn't tell you who to socialise with.

    Christianity is a business.

You are a different one Allie, and you seek the right answers even in the midst of all this confusion.

I am a Muslim, and I love my religion, but we as Muslims are bound to respect other people's religion eventhough it defies every single teaching we follow.

But that doesn't mean that we should hate each other for our differences, we should learn from them.

After all we were created different, to add a sense of humanity to this world, and to absorb experience, science, and wisdom, while maintaining our spiritual attachements.

Look at how wars are waged just because one man/woman/soul, thought that he/she/it was higher than others, superior with arrogance and ignorance.

It's true, we're never the same, even the same kins are quite apart in thier similarity.

It's for each one of us to choose Allie, wether to trust in what we do not see, until it is no longer unknown, or to foreverly linger in our despite, and anger, fearing for this difference, this (unholy) deviation of (nature).

    Be well,
I am very pleased to have read this from you.

    RD.

yes, RD, confusion it is. People aren't people anymore. Heck, I was talking to My grandmother, and I told her, "If you want to find evil people, don't be knocking on the door of Bin Laden, go to the High Schools, and thats where you will find evil." I have some pretty wacked out ideas, though.
War is stupid, but, unfortunately, its a fact of life. Doesn't make it right, but to wage war, and make it a holy war in the name of their religion....its backwards. I just can't see a God of any sort wanting us to hate someone because they are different. Its amazing...where did, "Love thy Neighbor" go in this mess?
      Again, many thanks, quill-wielding Raven.

I don't know you, but if you don't mind this I'd like to say I'm proud of you, a true Christian wouldn't judge someone by color and say 'Oh because someone with a similar skin tone as you is a terrorist, you must be too.'

Thrillian, thank you. My town....well, its a conservative Christian town, and I'm a Liberal, so I'm a bit frowned upon. Especially when I talk of my Muslim friends...People think I'm going to be a terrorist, or I am going to convert. I believe what I want to believe, its called "free will" the whole point of God Creating us. He doesn't want to control us, he wants us to love him because we want to. ITs pretty awesome.
