Love, at this time of year is all around
Is it only me who can’t bear the sound?
The smiles shine bright on the ones who have love
But what about a person who’s loved one have flown above?
Or the homeless, the forgotten the orphaned….
Their hearts broken incapable to mend
Chocolates to the wives to show we care
To the prostitutes some sleazy edible underwear
Perhaps a romantic meal for two
But what happens when there is only you
Valentines so commercial so fake and cheap
Leaves the lonely to sit and weep
The thoughtful gifts that took hours of time
Out shone by giant teddies that can rhyme
Surely love needs longer than one day
It isn’t determined by how much you can pay
Depressing for those who spend Valentines alone
No one gives a dam that they’re on their own.

So true. Everyone who has a valentine doesn't give a single thought to someone else who maybe doesn't have someone. Thanks for entering and good luck!
