My dear aging Grandmother,
You were left in the shadows.
Taking care of all those before you.
You never asked for anything once,
But for the happiness of everyone else.
You stood strong through all the storms,
Taking the blows one after another.
The wind blew furiously,
But never one time,
Did you put down your shield.
You have spread your wings
Widely across my back,
Giving me shade,
On all the days
The sun would not quit.
Time is short, and against us now,
But never will I let you go
Without you knowing
the strength you have given me
By your selfless love.
I surrender myself to you,
My dear aging Grandmother.
It is time now for you to sit back.
I will now spread MY wings wide,
And give you all the peace your heart deserves.
I love you, my aging Grandmother!

This is beautiful. It reminds me a lot of my grandmother, an amazing woman, and my hero. It's amazing the things that grandmothers will do just to keep their families safe, warm and always fed no matter what. It is wonderful that you are honoring your grandmother this way. I'm sure she is very proud of you and all that you have acomplished.
