You Were There

I was dying
As I laid there on the floor
Broken and defeated,
I cried.

The walls were closing in
And I didn't know what to do
I felt as if I had lost myself
And then I was found by you.

You held onto me as I broke down
Defeated, utterly defeated.
You helped me wash the feel of his hands
From my freshly tainted skin.

You were there when I had no one,
When the world turned its back on me.
You took care of me through the night
And made me forget his touch.

A bond was formed that night
As you held me while I cried.
Thank you for being there
Thank you for being the one to care.
