Bathed in Golden Glow

All hail the shining glimpse
Of one such passing king
of beasts and man and women
Surrounded by the hallowed haloed mandala ring.

Flowing mane is flecked with gold
That grabs the sun and throws it back
To blind the eye of each adorer
So they do not see how, by comparison, they lack

Who can tame this golden god,
this upright figure
made to mount the steps up to the throne?
I can think of only one who with the Lion holds her own.

Whose hair the luster equals
And sheen the skin invites the touch
Of strong proud leonine hands?
'Tis Aquarius the dreamer that he cannot help but love so much.

    LIONS HAVE PRIDE!

A very precious write, we need an injection of lion poems every now and again in the Lair and this one does the job perfectly...it makes my eyes tear up though

You have penned some great imagery, I adore the second stanza and have to keep going back to read again, and the very last line sends shivers down my spine...so romantic

The lion will always be above all other creatures, proud, strong, bold, a leader and more important a charmer...I had to add some softness to his nature there

Thank you for penning this super poem and congrats on the HM...[should have got the GOLD though!]

I enjoyed reading this write a lot. I really like how the second and fourth line of each stanza rhyme. It shows more beauty and emphasis on this poem, I think. Well done and congrats on being an honorable winner. xAngelx4xLife

    LIONS HAVE PRIDE!!!

This paints a wonderful picture in my mind. Really well done and with well-chosen images and descriptions. I loved this stanza the most:

"Flowing mane is flecked with gold
That grabs the sun and throws it back
To blind the eye of each adorer
So they do not see how, by comparison, they lack"

The regal pride and beauty of a Leo shines through every word. Congratulations on the HM!

    Best wishes,
    ~J.

    Lions HAve Pride

What an appropriate poem for the Lionslove Lair (thus, Leo's are after all named after Leo the Lion, associate with Lion on this group... Yeah, sure you already knew that). This is such a well presented piece about the Lion kind. Brave, outspoken and yet caring souls. I know a fair few Leo's (some more caring than others) and they are the opposite, or supposed to be anyway, of my sign (Aquarius). Fire and Air, bring radiance quite rare. OK anyway thanks for sharing and well done on the HM.

    Lions Have Pride

Leo is a mighty beast, yet gentle and protective of those he / she loves.  My mother is a Leo and fierce she stands her ground.  He walk is regal and she carries a royal stance. No way to tame a Leo you must sooth the savage beast, then you will be guareded and revered as an equal and not a conquerer.

Beautiful write,  Gread Job.  i loved the descriptives and the imagery.

    LIONS HAVE PRIDE!!

ROAR! A poem that would make any lion proud. I like how you threw in the other zodiac sign at the end. It helped remind us that your focus was Leos, who just happen to be lions. Congratulations on the honorable win. >pixxie<

*smiles* I like the addition of the Aquarian lover too ... pity that I don't get along too well with them! For some reason the first stanza doesn't seem to flow very well at all and I would suggest revising it a little ... the rest of the poem is amazing though and you have indeed flattered my inner lioness!

Good luck and thankyou for this entry

Thanks, glad you like it,thank you for this inventive fantasy contest. IT was indeed alot of fun. It gave me a chance to think of all the wonderful things about Leos, whom I admire as my best friend is one, and all the wonderful things about Aquarians, of whom I am one. Very creative contest idea, thanks for the hm.

Very beautiful imagery and a nice selection on words used to make this poem. I loved the way you closed the poem with the Aquarian dreamer who fancies the Leonine lady. Very nicely penned. Good flow too. Very nice use of assonance and alliteration.

    All the best,
    Charishma
