I don't know where I'm going
But I know where I've been
I hope I don't mess up
'Cause I'd have to start again
It took so long to get here
But going back wouldn't be hard
The return of everything that used to be
All on a Hallmark Card
The memories don't leave us
But it helps to move on
Just remember the one's you've loved
No matter how long they've gone
But I know where I've been
I hope I don't mess up
'Cause I'd have to start again
It took so long to get here
But going back wouldn't be hard
The return of everything that used to be
All on a Hallmark Card
The memories don't leave us
But it helps to move on
Just remember the one's you've loved
No matter how long they've gone
Author notes
I was thinking about how long my mother's been gone now, and it struck me that it's amazing that I've been able to get to where I am without her. If she had been here, things would be completely different.
It doesn't feel like 5 years, yet.. It's still tender, but I somehow seem to not notice a lot. And I'm feeling a little guilty because of all she's done for me, before and after death.

At first the phrase 'On a Hallmark Card' seems original, but it is know becoming clichéd it little. So be careful around in-danger-of-cliché-material. Other then that I thought this poem was reasonably well written. Thanks so much for your lovely entry! Good luck.~
