watching the rain outside.
The drips and drops gain my interest
as the storm calls to me.
I don't fully understand this feeling,
the tugging on my soul.
It draws me to it,
I'm a fish caught on a hook.
Rising to my feet I open the window
and I climb out of my emotional cage.
The chains fall from my body,
the shackles loose as the water falls on my skin.
That loss of weight makes me feel rejuvenated,
a new man.
Forgetting all the worries that used to hold me back,
I didn't think twice of what others might say of my actions.
Instead, I open my mouth and take a breath,
and I begin to sing with the water's pit-pat voice.
"But he who sings with water, he is lost-
For he who sings with water cannot leave the song
And will face the waves.
So sing."
Author notes
This poem went through a few edits. I was inspired by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' Kiesha'ra series.
I actually have to say that the song in the poem, is taken from her, and I put little edits here or there on it. So for the song, all credit goes To Amelia. Other than that, I wrote this poem myself.
If you liked this, expect more, for this was only Part 1!

I like part one, Devin. It's great because it's about becoming free and lifting up all the things that hold you down.

Very pretty Dev. Rain does have a very beautiful rythm. It does send the chains and ghosts away. Its too pretty and enchanting to think about the problems in life. Wonderful write. I look forward to Part 2 or 3 or whatever... :]
