I didn’t want to kiss you
Fearing I would become addicted to your lips
I didn’t want to look in your eyes
Fearing I would lose myself in you
I didn’t want to touch you
Fearing you were not really here
I kept you at a distance
Fearing I would miss you if you were gone
I became addicted to your lips
I’ve lost myself
You are gone
I miss you
Fear manifested my reality

Thank you for commenting on "His Brand of Magic", I can see that you've gone through a very similar experience. I love your descriptions, you have a wonderful theme that really ties the piece together.

This is exactly what I keep thinking to myself and yet you so passionately and deeply, profoundly, express it here, and amazingly with such few words....I always talk about the risk, the fear of loving and this write drives that point home...it spoke to me...thanks ....

beautiful
You really capture the fear that so many of us struggle with when we find ourselves attracted to a man. I love the simplicity of your poem, yet you have captured such depth of emotion.

very good work here
so few words ..so many feelings and emotions. A great literary concept for a love poem ..said I didn't want it but it came

Very sad and touching write! It always hurts when those we love are lost in some way...
Wow! Written with a lot of heart; thank you for sharing! -
Verry much said in a short ammount of time. I think that's always a good thing.
Nice expression.

Excellent!
Yes you are so very right. If you let fear be your guide then it will make your very fears become true. Quite uncanny how it works that way but it very well does.
This poem is so profoundly romantic in the theme and how you drive the emotion home. Drew a deep sigh from this romantic's heart. The woman's expression in the picture matches this poem perfectly. I love this write and I get more out of it every time I read it over again. Very very poetic and longingly beautiful in its presentation.
