He left her side without a second glance
She waits and hopes for him
He told her she was nothing
She believed every word
Such sweet things used to come from his lips
She smiled while crying inside, those words she couldn't believe
Now she knows she was always right
She didn't deserve the words he spoke
How could such a darling girl let one young boy destroy her?
How could her hopes and dreams be dashed by just a few words
But a few words spoken from those lips mean the world
The lips that used to gently grace her cheek
Softly meet hers and fill her with butterflies and shivers
And speak words that always brought a smile
They saved her when no one else could
Now a hit straight to the heart makes her contemplate it all
Everything ever said and done feels like lies
Slowly she becomes weaker
Letting them use her for momentary fun
Letting him take advantage of the still feeling in her heart
She cries while telling them she still wants more
The tears don't show but the inside is torn
She can only feel betrayed
Like a scared child she wants them to hold her
To protect her from the conscious memory
Crying out for attention, but letting no one see
She wants back the one who held her safe
Whose words wrapped her in comfort
They ring with irony
The tears upon her cheeks laugh at the attempt to ease her pain
A fading look in her eyes shows he is still on her mind
