I saw you on a street outside a bistro
I stared at you, I couldn't stop
You captured my thoughts like nothing before
I told my eyes to tell you
Look at me…see me… but You went on with your friends…laughing
I saw you again I was on the on the subway
You stood on the platform ...I went to the closing door
As my train pulled away …
I looked until you were gone from my eyes
You were there ...smiling
I didn't see you again for a long, long time
Winter came and left us shivering into the wary days of Spring
then one evening...outside a theater
I saw You again… alone looking for a taxi
I walked toward You… You were laughing as you got into the car
I sat alone in the café Armando…reading a book
Armando looked at me and said..."Alone no work for you"
Then they seated You next to me…God Bless you Armando…
We smiled ..I offered to share my wine...you moved over to my table
We talked..wonderful…Lauren… we promised to see each other soon
You came to me that night in my dreams
And in my dreams I was firm and strong
I looked at you and you fell under my gaze
I held you and we kissed and melted into each other
I wouldn't let you go…
I saw You once more…. In front of the jewelers on Houston
up out of the 1 Train... into the bright sun toward you
You wore a cotton dress which clung to your waist
I told my eyes to find you and to make you melt under my gaze
Like in the dream…
You were with a man… he opened a small case
the space between became an offering table
You were laughing ..you hugged him.."Yes..Yes"
I stopped…I told my eyes to look away…
they would not… instead… they cried….

Author notes
A story reflecting feelings hidden in prose: the part of us that wants something... but always seem to find it slightly out of reach.
Author’s notes: You
This is a prose form narrative poem. The premise is that people often hide their wants behind efforts that simply pretend to reach to the things they really want. The seem to find satisfaction in a reach that never succeeds in grasping. So You is a small exploration of such a person and a small episode in his life. Enjoy…PK.
