Pieces

You are a part of me
cut from my soul
without you here
it's like
I'm missing
pieces.

You had my heart
from go
the first moment
we met.
You looked at me
and filled in
the last
missing piece.

You are my blood
and my breath
without you here
it's like
I'm missing
pieces.

Author notes

For my Josh...I wrote this when he was hospitalized in Feb. in crisis. He is ADHD and has mild Tourettes. I understand the feeling of hopelessness that you must be feeling with your daughter not at home, and the lack of control you have when your child is in a hospital and you can't be with them.
I hope this helps.

    Excellent!

Thank you for this. I also like the fact that you have comment on who it is for. Very moving, and beautiful. I hope one day to have someone that will finish my puzzle. Thank you, and best of luck!

Thank you very much, and just to be clear this is about my son.

    Sweet

Soft and sweet are your words. Nothing but love and honesty in a world that feels barren at times. Write on dear poet. The world needs the soft tender words

    good

The emotion in this piece really drew me. I do feel as if I am missing a part of myself. It's like I'm lost and I don't know what to do everyday. To some, I know this sounds stupid, almost codependent. However, I have my own life and interest. Rebeckah is just one of the greatest parts of my life like I am sure your son is as well.

Your stanzas moved so nicely. I also liked the setup of the piece. I have always fancied center placement. The tie-in at the end of each stanza from the title and as a dramatic statement was very effective.

    Thank you
