Breath of winter blurs a well-caulked window
facing out over locked lake
how the heat wants out to warm this
gray crusted world, that seeps
out through micro-holes in my eyes
to bleed wishes on tough rags
of brown soldier rattling like summer snake.
It holds the border of broad view well,
a small owned place it plies ownership over.
He shakes his bony fingers at me knowing,
as well as I, that green armies
will invade his solitary killing field,
and he will no longer be a hero
holding fort for a cold season
until replacements choke life out of him
and me…and my place to hide
behind a cold pane.

I always find it amzing that no scene seems to be compeltely white and covered....it takes a sick mind to see a dead weed as lonely...
