Capsize

to see you stumble, surrender, submerge
and to know that it was I who pushed you:
              this is pain.

and as dark tears dance behind your eyes
                        and over your overwhelmed hands:
                              reaching back to me:
                                  (to pull you up
                                        or me down)

and to believe that you will fight currents
that strangle and sweep and suffocate:
                    this is certain.

and as a shallow sun sinks
and moon confesses far too much
                                  never-confessed reliance:

and to pray that this time you will break the surface:

Wow, this poem is well written and very emotional, I'm not sure how others will read it but it speaks to me a lot. The last line and the punctuation in it are particularly interesting. I am sure that if your friend gets to read this s/he'll appreciate it very much. I know I would. Thanks for entering my contest.
