A Soft Breeze In Your Back

Banana fostered dreams
shoot me back to Decateur Street
Sunday brunch laced with love,
jazz wafting through naked air
we are not old,
we are not new,
we are timeless for this moment

and now…
we were

Trust things are going well for you
and finding your way through
that meandering maze
we christen life
and that bliss,
or something near
has found your door

think about you often
as I do now,
reconciled
and send you
warm thoughts,
sunshine on your shoulders,
and a soft breeze in your back.

Author notes

Thinking, reminiscing, in a freeing and mindful way of a past love and some precious times shared, when the world was ours on a half shell. No wistfulness or nostalgic pining, just tender memories that leave only feelings of gratitude for how love fills my cup to the brim.

Is it just me or am I the only person who has commented on the fact that the words for a picture of a makeshift skull......
Your poem is beutifuely written and is even nice art work too you did an outstanding job. It really makes you think about how much we all worry about life sometimes when we should just sit back and trust its doing ok and relax for awhile.

this has such an easy, light feel you don't have to really explain later that it isn't truly wistful, and I doubt you could manage such gentle casualness with that lovely line about bliss or something near, if you were 'pining'. A couple of sensual little images, a reference to the timelessness of memory, the 'snapshot' of the moments in the past, and the genuine good wishes to your lucky lady combine in a warm and fuzzy way to illustrate the way the past shines a light into the present, and you yourself shine a very bright light by not 'carrying a torch' for your former love, but by your open and giving nature. A lovely poem, perfectly composed (like you?)with sentiments we all wish we could muster for every past love! this is a real easy read, thank you.

Ferg ~ it's been too long since I've been here to sample your wares...what a treat this one is. Soft breezes wafting about, bringing remembered scents, dreams long past. Reflection is a bittersweet and very human thing. This gave me a feeling of connection. Nicely done x Tilly

i'm glad you shared this....our reminiscences of past loves are so often tainted by our sadness and the trauma of parting....when all the world seems very dark indeed.

and it seems that i am having a very dark night.

your gentle melody of words flows so beautifully in this.

    blessed be.

beautifully written Henri!!!! when it's time to end a relationship, it's less painful on the heart and soul if you can let go with such contentment and remember the good times fondly...so much better when there's no hate or bitterness for that person..then and only then can one move on and make new cherished memories with another!!

Your voice is so strong Henri... This pieces has such a tranquil, easy feeling about it. I could tell this was simply a fond memory of someone special and not you pining after the love that was lost. Somtimes relationships simply dont last, but it is always nice to look back on the good ones and remember the love that was shared... keeps the emotion fresh in our minds. This is a wonderful poem Henri - Thank you for sharing such a personal write. Helen

we are the timeless silence of the summer sky
the fingers of the breeze upon life's skin
we are the diamonds in the passionate eye
the expectation where all dreams begin

we are the moments borne in future's arms
the memories of tenderness' sweet past
we are the jingling of our soul's love charms
in ecstasy our yearning always last

Thank you for a tender read. I loved this ...

    Warmest regards,

    Myra

Exquisite write! I love the following part, it just really gripped me in a positive way:

    "we are not old,
    we are not new,
we are timeless for this moment"

That part really appeals to my need to be immortal, my need to be among the untouchables.

This is absolutely beautiful, I'm sure she thinks of you often too. I only know you by random written thoughts, but I imagine to know you more would be something beautiful, at its very least.

To appeal to the deepest part of me is to love me from the inside, and I've yet to find a man who has more to offer than a pretty package.

A woman would be lucky to be the recipient of your thoughts and your words!

So, in time, memories come back as warm thoughts. Cherished, and renewing.. Time does that...brings a smile...instead of pain. Makes them real again, for a moment in our thoughts. Thank you, Henri, for those beautiful lines. I look forward to those moments. Though I know it shall take me a while to get there..

Shall I be original and call this another BEAUTIFUL
    write ??

Lovely sentiments expressed Henri...a very calm tone to it
and written with much tenderness...its a beautiful thing
to be able to recall with love people and places that once
meant so much...its nice to remember them with a smile...
some of them helped shape who we are...I know I have a
few in my heart that will always mean much...:)

    Suddenly I feel nostalgic...

Very peaceful and has its own gentle sway. I really enjoy reminiscing about the good relationships, even if they didn't last, there are many good memories to think about. I love how this reads, I think I must add you to my favorites if you don't mind. Wonderful job, and I enjoyed reading it very much.
