[ A Tattered old book, ]

A Tattered old book,
worn with age,
its leather faded,
the pages are old and torn.
The words forgotten.
Filled with memories and thoughts,
two people sit and read,
laughing at all the mistakes they made.
This book helped thm find each other,
it might have helped them return to the other,
but sadly,
the pages are blank,
stains of water and ink no longer cover the pages.
One of the lovers had erased it all,
allowing it to mean nothing.
With gnarled old,
and shaking hands,
she trys to replace the marks,
only to see that he no longer cares.
This old book,
no longer wanted,
sits upon her bed.
Everynight,
she reads the pages,
hed written,
words that had never reached her,
now touch her soul,
as she had hidden so long ago.
Now she reads alone,
of her own choosing and making.
She remembers when she was younger,
and her pride told her to run.
Knowing she'd never be the wife,
everyone expected her to be.
The only thing she ever regretted,
was that she had lost her souls partner.

You know we look and look for what ever is missing in our life only to find in the end that what we had was so much better and right under our nose. Great write.
