Waiting for the perfect moment
You smile, I laugh,
but still
the time is not right
I take you to our open field
We kiss for hours
it seems
I want to now, so badly
But it's still too early
We roll down the hill
Your eyes alight,
we tumble
I lay you beneath me
gazing at you with eyes of love
not lust
I wage wars with myself as we dream
Can I now, NO!
How about now, No.
Still not ready...
You lay your head on my chest
You listen to me breathe
And suddenly
I know
you are ready
You say few words
unwiling to break the silence
Looking up at me patiently
Knowing I was close to breaking
I smile at you as you relax,
close your eyes...
Honey, I whisper
Marry me?
