My Flakey Valentine

Janey was a strange one
peculiar some would say
She'd peel down to her skivvies
waiting for the day

The day anticipation
crystallized thin air
The day when frosty petals
came from way up there

Way up there above her
impatiently she'd wait
To hoard each single snowflake
that fell upon her plate

Her plate held out in offer
she counted her wind fall
A tally of 4 billion
enough to form a ball

A ball of cold confection
between a bit of rye
A pickle and some mayonaise
her banquet from the sky

Janey was a strange one
and still is to this day
Loves her snowball sandwich
created just that way

  • Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

I'm so sad to report, my long held snowball sandwich has met its demise as has my fridge. I did, though, hold a most respectful memorial service as I added the residual liquid to my pond. Hopefully, as the seasons pass, he shall resurrect himself in a whole new form. as a new sammich stuffer perchance????

Awww, how sad but at least we can take comfort in knowing it will live on and every snowball that you make with pond water is a part of the original.
I do hope the memorial service warranted a speech of some kind, holding your right hand over your heart, looking skyward you recited, um, what?

4 billion hops and a couple of others, maybe

a snowball that size would take at least 5 billion snow flakes, especially when you take into consideration the fact that snow melts faster on really wonderful people then when it melts on the other kind. I figure it takes 5 billion snow flakes a couple of days to melt on me compared to the seven or 8 seconds it would take to melt on this wonderful person.

so how many, hun, how many. fess up, can't fool me. you jest neveer could, never can. nope. i love yer poems. ,,,Danni

      Hiya Danni,

Ok, so maybe it would take 5 billion or more..and in Jane's case they would be melting awfully fast for she is beyond wonderful...and most wonderful in putting up with me and my quirky ways...

Thank you for visiting...next time bring some beer and snacks and stay awhile, we'll do some catching up

Yes, Janey was a strange one.
Some might even say a "dork".
For she liked to spear her snowball
with a cold and silvery fork.

And then, dear heavens help her,
she must of lost her wits.
For she cleaned up her utensil
with her tongue and stuck to it!

LOL-once again galf, you've struck the funny bone!
Good one! Reminded me of all the times I ate snow as a child, and would then lick the flagpole. I still don't think I've learned to keep my tongue off of cold metal objects. But that's a whole 'nother story.

Keep us laughin' girl. 'cuz noboby does it better!

Good grief Jill...you sure ran amok on my poem page - i had to delete at least 10 comments of yours with the one sentence of "Yes Janey was a strange one"

Me thinks its the pot calling the kettle black

Come back here and fix your comment..you got a space underneath it thats about 10 miles long. I dont want to delete it cuz i like it. But geeze get rid of the long space.

Talking about having your tongue stuck to a flag pole ... i know the feeling well. I had my tongue stuck to the screen door

Question is, what were you doing licking the flag pole???? I guess it would be the same reason why i licked the screen door

Yeah apparently Janey's not the only screwed up one But its more fun being screwy

I dont know whether to punch you in the nose or thank you for all the comments

      thanks...control yourself next time ...ok?

Oh dear, it looks like Galfalfa and her little friends have been smoking that strange plant again. Tsk, naughty them. Thats hardly the example that you should be setting to your impressionables, or before you know it everyone on this site will be shooting up their heroin pipes.

Still, this poem was very funny (but I gather that was the intention), and even if a snowball sandwich does sound a bit odd, it's surely nowhere near as disgusting as a banana one.
