Attaching Fake Feathers - HM

Missing image
How chained to me he had to feel
when I adored his every move,
laughed at all his jokes,
thought sun rose and set on him,
depended on his breath in the night
to hold me here, made me feel dear.

I should have read more mystical stories
where heroes always go through some fire,
fall in love with some misbegotten mistress,
have to fight off mysterious beasts.
They fought demons on their beauty’s behalf.
Oh, it was against great odds they were allowed
to become so very well known.

I did not mean to make him my hero.

Well done! What a very insightful look at the picture. So often we truly destroy the ones we love, with false hope. Making them bigger then life and not handling it when they can not rise to the challenge. Pedastals were made to fall off of.
    Great work!

Oh, he will be my hero forever...but it had to be so very ahrd for him to be what I thought of him....although I was not the only one to see it....he was all those good things...he simply could not sustain it.

I'd agree with aslanlight. There's a tendency to place loved ones admired greatly way up there. When maybe all they want,is a partner to walk the same level with. You nailed this same thought so very well in this piece.~Suseann

That's usually how it works. First one slips up in a slight lose of respect,it damages a little. Then it snowballs to the other one. Mighty thin line we walk doing a balancing act.But remembering the L AT F Sight helps sometimes.Listen to this loose cannon preach! Ha! Yeah,I keep my cool alll the time!Ha!~~Suseann

    Universal reality

Think you've touched upon something universal to us all. Putting people on a pedastal. Men do it with beaufiful women even when they're not endowed with much of anything else. I love the second stanza although I don't quite understand how reading about mystical heroes could have prevented this hero worship.

I woudl have been more prepared I think.... I woudl not have come to worship him so badly that I would fall so hard in the end.
